Edgar Mendez
Edgar Mendez is the Director of La Rumba Latin Dance School. He was born in Guatemala and has been teaching salsa dancing for over 10 years and has extensive experience in choreography, performing, and managing a dance company. Edgar was instrumental in the development of Latin dance in the Mid-South by co-creating and directing the first salsa dance company, Salsa Memphis. Through his efforts, he has taught thousands of salsa dancers in Memphis! Edgar Mendez has operational expertise within the nightclub industry, contract negotiations, hosting large-scale events, and is well known around the U.S. and within the general and Latin community of Memphis.
Alex Labrador
Alex Labrador holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Memphis and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Union University. He taught the very first salsa lesson in his garage and then became the driving force behind the development of the salsa dance craze in Memphis. He co-created and directed Salsa Memphis since 2002 alongside Edgar Mendez. He has taught hundreds of Memphians to salsa and currently provides instruction, DJ services, and special event coordination. Alex has prior experience in managing successful salsa venues. He is knowledgeable on website design, nightclub flyer production, sound equipment, business contracts, networking, and is well known within the general and Latin community in Memphis.
Jim Davila
Jim Davila was born in Puerto Rico, traveled the world while serving in the U.S. Army, and is an avid surfer. He has over 10 years experience in management and networking. He is a longtime supporter of the salsa dance craze in Memphis having seen it grow from the very beginning.

DIRECTIONS TO THE RUMBA ROOM: From I-240: Exit I-40 West (Little Rock), Exit 2nd/3rd Street and go down 1.5 miles, take a Right onto Peabody St., take a left onto S. Main St., the Rumba Room will be on your right side, 2 blocks from the Orpheum Theater.
